The Role:

Design and develop in conjunction with the Buyers a fashion forward and dynamic range that fits the Brand image.

Day to Day:

  • Collate and research information on forward trends as well as colour and styling to drive product and range development
  • Work closely with the Buyer and Technologist to develop the department product strategy, into product pieces for the range and translate this into including key items and must haves
  • Utilise information from trade results to drive the range forward e.g. best-sellers
  • Identify key items for the season and translate them for the DP customer. Utilise resources and samples to reflect product originality
  • Undertake regular store visits and competitor shops to further develop understanding of the DP customer, her buying habits and the range offered by competitors
  • Adopt a pro-active approach to generate design ideas at both department and brand level e.g. suggesting trials
  • Take on broader branded project activity e.g. colour
  • Build effective relationships with key suppliers to ensure they have all relevant information to deliver required results
  • Undertake developmental and inspirational travel within the UK and worldwide
  • Develop understanding of price architecture, margin and selling price

Must Haves:

  • Passion for product and design
  • Ambition and drive to progress
  • Proven experience as a Designer within a retail environment
  • Team player
  • Strong communication and influencing skills
  • Commercially aware with a strong understanding of the High Street
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced environment and work under pressure
  • Flexible and reactive to change
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of InDesign and PhotoShop
